Happy Thanksgiving!

To all who celebrate it, I hope you have a very happy turkey day! We'll be doing the traditional meal (should I say 'over-doing') and loving every minute of it.

Hope your table is stuffed with goodies and you're able to spend time with the people you love.

Have a great day!

Jenna on Demand: Star Trek 2009

I haven't done a movie review for a while, but it's been a long time since a show really left me as happy as this one did, so here we go.

We watched the latest Star Trek movie by J.J. Abrams and I have to admit, I was totally blown away. I'm not a Trekkie by any means, but I have seen a lot of the original series and some of the Next Generation. I stopped watching after that, though we've seen all the movies.

This movie was a prequel, if you will. We see how James T. Kirk became the captain of the Enterprise, and follow Mr. Spock's voyage as well. The most fun part for me was seeing the other original characters added in to the mix, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, Bones and Scotty. I read where these new actors were able to pull as much from the original actor's portrayals and personalities as they wanted. I think they each did an amazing job.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish and didn't look at the clock once, except maybe to wish it wasn't going to be over so soon. I loved the gag reel on the special features of the DVD, and if I had time I'd watch the movie again with director's commentary turned on. I really loved this one.

A+ !!! Highly recommended.

Adam Lambert - over the top or no big deal?

I didn't see Adam Lambert's performance on the AMA's, but all the hoopla about his gay on-screen kiss has sure got my attention. Now Good Morning America has cancelled his live concert scheduled for Wednesday.

omg! at Yahoo.com is reporting mixed messages for the racy performance. Some people think it was no big deal while some 1500 others have called to complain. It seems that the on-screen antics were okay when they were done by straight people but over the top when done by gays. Excuse me? What is this, 1962? Mother, shut off that boob-tube! Elvis is shaking his hips on Ed Sullivan!

Okay, Adam had his hand slapped and he loses his GMA concert appearance. But GMA doesn't score any points with me. If they're concerned, they should use time-delay filming. I wouldn't have been watching anyway, but now I really won't watch. Seems like a whole lotta hoopla about nada, or as Judge Judy likes to say, it's a whole lot of 'Who shot John?' LMAO at all of them.

Night Shift gets Four and a Half Stars at Rainbow Reviews!

Another great review for the cops and robbers story Night Shift, this time from British Bull Dog at Rainbow Reviews.

"Stone and Ryder like playing sexual games. And given they’re both cops, they have a ready supply of handcuffs and know just how to use them. However, this story is much more than just hot sex.

Night Shift is the best thing I’ve read by Ms. Byrnes. Can’t wait for the next m/m story from this talented writer."

Love it! Thanks so much to British Bull Dog and Rainbow Reviews. Read the whole review here.

Night Shift:

Tracking a murderer on the streets of Chicago, two strong-willed detectives must work together on the case - as well as they get along in the bedroom.

Homicide Detective Cullen Ryder is worried. Someone is brazenly killing drug pushers on the grimy backstreets of Chicago. When the monthly murders jump to weekly and draw the focus of the chief of police, the Chicago P.D. starts jumping, too. The chief assigns a special task force to the case, much to Ryder's chagrin.

Handsome, dark-skinned Trevor Stone has testosterone and attitude to spare. As the head of the task force, he marches in giving orders right and left. Ryder doesn't like being bossed around, but he does like Stone. Maybe a little too much. When he discovers the feelings are mutual and the men fall into bed, neither is sure where the relationship is headed. Both know one thing - there's a murderer on the loose whom they need to catch, before he catches up with them.

Trying to understand the Harlequin Horizons Kerfuffle?

Read this wonderful blog post by author Jackie Kessler. It puts the whole Harlequin kerfuffle into perspective. And yes, I love the word kerfuffle. (Thanks to Margo O. for that one!) *G*
